Larkn Bio
Larkn's artist journey is a tale of grit and perseverance from her earliest moments going into a recording studio at 16, to her epic bi-coastal oddyssey across the United States, culminating in her returning to her home state of Michigan. Her first formal training was through classical piano lessons and church choir. Her first compositions were on piano and songwriting developed later in middle school before she starred in three of her high school's musicals. A scholarship at Berklee College of Music (Boston) influenced her decision to leave Michigan and eventually relocate to Los Angeles, California (Burbank, Mars Vista, West Hollywood, Hollywood, West Hills) where she interned for Chime Entertainment (Grammy-award winning producer/songwriter Marc Tanner), Judy Stakee (Songwriter/Music Publisher) and Amy Powers (Emmy nominated songwriter), worked on demos in her spare time with feedback from Los Angeles-based engineers and paid the bills from either working as a waitress at a coffee shop in Beverly Hills or at Erewhon Natural Foods Market.

After feeling burnt out and leaving LA altogether, Larkn wound up at Big Sky Recording in Ann Arbor Michigan and making friends with local musicians, leading to her playing live shows at venues like The Blind Pig, Ziggys and The Music Factory Battle Creek. She created a record label in 2022, and later adopted the role of Presidency of WAVES club (an audio/video club) at Washtenaw Community College where she collaborated with recording engineers and creatives. Her music company, Better From Here Music, (Instagram @bfhmusic) an artist-focused independent record label in Ann Arbor, Michigan has presented music events in South Eastern Michigan. Her six song EP project titled Make it the Most, recorded at Big Sky, comes out summer 2025 on platforms that require purchases such as Bandcamp, her own personal store: www.larknmusic.com/store
