Larkn Bio
Larkn's artist journey is a tale of grit, perseverance and passion from her earliest moments going into a recording studio at 16 to recording a Christmas album, to her epic bi-coastal artist odyssey across the United States, culminating in her returning home to her state of Michigan. Her first formal music training was through classical piano lessons and church choir. Her first compositions were on piano and songwriting developed later in middle school, before an interest in theater led to starring in three of her high school's musicals. A scholarship at Berklee College of Music (Boston) influenced her decision to leave Michigan and afterward relocate to LA where she bounced around from neighborhood to neighborhood (Burbank, Mars Vista, West Hollywood, Hollywood, Vernon, West Hills, Beverly Hills, Granada Hills), often waitressing or interning for music titans and companies such as Chime Entertainment (built by Grammy-award winning producer/songwriter Marc Tanner), Judy Stakee (Songwriter/Music Publisher) and Amy Powers (Emmy nominated songwriter), working on demos in her spare time with feedback from LA recording studio engineers, paying bills from side jobs.

After feeling burnt out, coming down with acid reflux and leaving LA altogether, Larkn some years later wound up at Big Sky Recording in Ann Arbor Michigan and making friends with Ypsilanti-area musicians, leading to shows at venues like The Blind Pig, Ziggys, "Dreamland Theatre, " The Regal Beagle, Ghostlight Bar, The Music Factory Battle Creek and The Ark. She created a record label in 2022, and later adopted the role of Presidency of WAVES club (an audio/video club) at Washtenaw Community College where she collaborated with recording engineers and creatives. Her independent record label/artist consultant company, Better From Here Music, (Instagram @bfhmusic) has presented music events in south eastern Michigan from singer-songwriter-coffee style events to mall shows and has been written about by A2Pulp.
Larkn's her six song EP project titled Make it the Most, recorded at Big Sky, came out summer of 2025 on platforms that require purchases such as Bandcamp, her own personal store: www.larknmusic.com/store
Larkn uses Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and X app, where she can be followed and has an email list (sign-up link on Instagram and Facebook or join using the form below). Most of her "content' and shows posted are available on her website and the majority of her music is available on Bandcamp.
A little bit pop, a little bit singer-songwriter, sometimes country and stylistically versatile, her music is best often compared to artists like Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles, Taylor Swift, Shania Twain and/or Gwen Stefani. Listen here.
