Larkn Bio
Larkn's artist journey is a tale of grit, perseverance and passion from her earliest moments going into a professional recording studio as a 16 in Rochester, Michigan to her epic bi-coastal artist odyssey across the United States, from Boston to LA to back to Michigan in 2018. Her first formal music training began with piano lessons and church choir and her first compositions were on piano, small pieces of music that resembled movie theme music and Larkn's first songs came about in middle school. A powerful interest in the arts and music led to Larkn trying out for and starring in three of her high school's musicals. Post-high school, a scholarship at Berklee College of Music (Boston) influenced her decision to leave Michigan, after which she moved to Los Angeles, where she lived in several places (Burbank, Mars Vista, West Hollywood, Hollywood, Vernon, West Hills, Beverly Hills, Granada Hills), mostly waitressing and interning for reputable music industry professionals or in and out of recording studios.
After feeling homesick and coming down with acid reflux that put a damper on performing, Larkn left LA to move back to Michigan to be closer to family and some years later after a period of rest wound up at Big Sky Recording in Ann Arbor Michigan and making friends with Ypsilanti-area musicians, leading to shows at venues like The Blind Pig, Ziggys, "Dreamland Theatre, " The Regal Beagle, Ghostlight Bar, The Music Factory Battle Creek and The Ark. She created a record label in 2022, and later adopted the role of Presidency of WAVES club (an audio/video club) for a period of time at Washtenaw Community College where she collaborated with recording engineers and creatives. Her independent record label/artist consultant company, Better From Here Music, (Instagram @bfhmusic) has presented music events in south eastern Michigan from singer-songwriter-coffee style events to mall shows and has been written about by A2Pulp.
Larkn's her six song EP project titled Make it the Most, recorded at Big Sky, came out summer of 2025 on platforms that require purchases such as Bandcamp, her own personal store: www.larknmusic.com/store
